Radio Personality Who Campaigned Against Violence is Shot to Death in Tabasco
Radio host Alejandro Fonseca Estrada died early Wednesday after an armed attack as he was hanging posters protesting the violence that has plagued Mexico, the DPA German news agency reported.
Known as "Godfather Fonseca," as his morning radio show on EXA FM was called, Fonseca had begun an anti-kidnapping campaign and was hanging banners on a street corner in Villahermosa when he was shot by a group of hooded assassins, El Universal added.
The killers escaped aboard a blue truck with Texas license plates, and Fonseca later died in a hospital, El Universal said.
The banners Fonseca hung said: “A kidnapper lives as long as the citizen wants," and "No to Fear, Kidnapping, Impunity, and Lies," El Mexicano reported.
