Journalist blames Nicaraguan government for brutality during arrest
Patricia Orozco, a radio host and director of the Autonomous Women’s Movement, complained to the Nicaraguan Center for Human Rights (Cenidh) that police used "an excess of violence" when they arrested her last week in the city of León, EFE reports.
Orozco told EFE that President Daniel Ortega’s government was behind the violence, which she called a reprisal for her reports against León’s Sandinista-controlled mayor’s office.
She plans to report the case to Police Internal Affairs and has demanded an investigation into the attack, La Prensa adds.
