The application deadlines for international applicants to the 2010-2011 Nieman Fellowships at Harvard University and the Knight Fellowships at Stanford University are Dec. 15, 2009. Five journalists from Latin America and the Caribbean were selected as the 2009 Washington Post-Woodrow Wilson Center Fellows. The winners will spend three weeks in Washington D.C. conducting investigative journalism projects on hemispheric relations, according to the Woodrow Wilson Center’s announcement. read more »

The Woodrow Wilson Center-Washington Post Fellowship is offering fellowships for five journalists from any Latin American or Caribbean nation. Fellows will spend three weeks in Washington D.C. reporting on how hemispheric relations impact an important issue in their home country. read more »

Twenty-four journalists from around the world were selected as 2009-2010 Nieman Fellows. The journalists will attend Harvard University for a year of study, seminars, and special events, according to the Nieman Foundation's announcement. read more »

Twenty years ago, I finished a fellowship at Harvard University that would mark a watershed event in my career and in my life. I was the first Brazilian to obtain a Nieman fellowship for journalists, a program that Harvard has offered for 70 years. Since then, other universities have created similar fellowships, and all are open to journalists from Latin America and the Caribbean. read more »

The Dart Center offers six expense-paid Ochberg Fellowships to mid-career journalists who wish to apply in-depth knowledge of emotional trauma to improve their coverage of violent events.

The fellowships are open to print and broadcast reporters, photographers, editors and producers with at least five years of journalism experience. (See list of previous fellows.) read more »

For the second year, the Avina Foundation has opened competition for journalists who wish to obtain funding to report on sustainable development in Latin America. Awards will be made to reporters who wish to pursue any of six main themes: social equity, transparency, climate change, inclusive business, integration, and education. read more »
