Latin American journalists can apply for fellowships to study media issues in Spain
Journalists from Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America and the Caribbean have until July 15, 2011, to apply for the Balboa Program for Young Iberian-American Journalists for professional and academic training in Madrid, Spain, according to Venezuela’s National Journalism Guild (CNP in Spanish). Participants will receive a paid flight to Madrid, a 1000 euro a month stipend, and health insurance.
The program will select 20 fellows to study Iberian-American media issues; ethical, technological and business challenges to journalism; and general social, political, and economic issues affecting Spain, Europe, and their relationship with Latin America. Journalists will also work at major print, digital, and broadcast media outlets, which in the past have included, among others, El Mundo, El País, EFE, TeleMadrid, and Lainformacion.com. The program lasts from February to July 2012.
Candidates must have a university degree, professional media experience, be less than 32-years-old, and be from countries in the Iberian-American Community of Nations (excluding Spain and Portugal).
To apply, see the Balboa Program website.
