Top Brazilian dailies to charge for iPad editions
Folha de S. Paulo, O Estado de S. Paulo, and O Globo announced plans to start charging for their iPad apps, Macworld Brasil reports.
Apple announced last month that newspapers worldwide will no longer be able to offer free access to their content through the iPad app store, however Nicholas Serrano, the digital journalism director for Estado’s parent company, said the change has been coming for some time and is unrelated.
According to Journalism.co.uk, European publishers are upset with Apple for forcing them to charge print subscribers for iPad apps and process payments via iTunes, meaning lost revenue and customer data for media companies.
