Knight Center Journalism Courses on the Internet

 | | Welcome to the trilingual Knight Center’s Distance Learning program!
Since 2003, our program has trained over 2,000 journalists from the Americas and the Caribbean on a variety of journalism topics and themes that include investigative reporting, ethics, digital journalism techniques, covering armed conflicts, computer-assisted reporting, and many other topics. Our short courses (ranging from four to eight weeks) are completely online and taught by some of the most well-respected, experienced journalists and journalism trainers in the Americas.

 | Knight Center Offers Online Course for Mexican Journalists: Covering Drug Trafficking The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas will offer for the second time, the online course "Covering Drug Trafficking," from Aug. 3–Aug. 30, 2009 to journalists in Mexico. The course will be co-sponsored by the Mexico City-based Center for Journalism and Public Ethics (CEPET). Applications for the four-week class taught by Colombian journalist Álvaro Sierra will be accepted online until July 17. Read More »
| | Knight Center Offers New Online Course in Portuguese: Introduction to Computer-Assisted Reporting The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas is offering a free online course entitled “Introduction to Computer-Assisted Reporting (CAR).” The course will be offered in Portuguese between July 27 and August 23, 2009 and will be taught by Brazilian journalist José Roberto de Toledo. Toledo, one of the founders of the Brazilian Association of Investigative Journalism and PrimaPagina is a pioneer in the use of CAR in Brazil. Read More »
| | Knight Center Trains 50 Journalists in Drug Trafficking Coverage The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas offered, for the first time, “Covering Drug Trafficking,” an online, Spanish language course, in which 50 journalists from 12 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean participated, designed by the Colombian journalist Álvaro Sierra. The free course combined conceptual problems and practical elements to help journalists understand and provide responsible coverage of the complex topic of drug trafficking. Read More »
