Knight Center Journalism Courses on the Internet



 Welcome to the trilingual Knight Center’s Distance Learning program!

Since 2003, our program has trained over 2,000 journalists from the Americas and the Caribbean on a variety of journalism topics and themes that include investigative reporting, ethics, digital journalism techniques, covering armed conflicts, computer-assisted reporting, and many other topics. Our short courses (ranging from four to eight weeks) are completely online and taught by some of the most well-respected, experienced journalists and journalism trainers in the Americas.
  
Our courses take full advantage of multimedia with video lectures, chats, discussion forums, audio slideshows, self-paced quizzes, and other collaborative learning technologies. Our cutting-edge platform and expert instructors provide a quality learning experience for the journalist seeking to improve and/or gain new knowledge or skills for the 21st century newsroom.

Knight Center to repeat online course in Spanish 'Covering Drug Trafficking'
The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas will offer for the third time the free online Spanish course "Covering Drug Trafficking," March 8 through April 11, 2010, with instructor Álvaro Sierra, a Colombian journalist and professor at the United Nations' University for Peace. Course applications will be accepted Feb. 8-21 (closes at 5 p.m. Austin, Texas, time). Space is limited.

Knight Center debuts new course on digital media product development skills
The Knight Center is offering a new, free online course in Spanish aimed at journalists in Latin America and the Caribbean interested in acquiring digital media product development skills. The six-week course, Digital Media Project Development, taught by Hiram Enriquez of Univision Interactive Media, begins Feb. 22 and continues through April 4. Space is limited. Applications will be accepted from Jan. 25 through Feb. 7.
