Riot police threw a teargas canister at journalist Lidieth Díaz and cameraman Adolfo Sierra for TV Cholusat Sur, attempting to stop the pair from filming a teacher protest in the Honduran capital of Tegucigalpa, Revistazo.com reports.

Another pair of journalists, Radio Gualcho director Sandra Maribel Sánchez and Globo TV cameraman Uriel Rodríguez, also reported being assaulted by the police, C-Libre adds.

“I was filming the military and the police when one of them fired rubber bullets, injuring both of my legs, then another group of police rushed at Sandra Maribel Sánchez to take her camera,” Rodríguez said, quoted by C-Libre.

Earlier this year, Lidieth Díaz was one of the journalists who were assaulted by members of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court’s security team during an interview. Her station, Cholusat Sur, was considered supportive of former President Manuel Zelaya, and was shut down by the interim government for three weeks after the coup that removed him from power in June 2009.
