Journalists and Researchers Discuss Digital Journalism about the Americas, Spain and Portugal
Welcome to the page of the Ibero-American Colloquium on Digital Journalism organized by the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas! Click here to read news about the first colloquium.
This section of the Knight Center website contains the discussions of the first colloquium, held in Austin, Texas, April 5-6, 2008, held immediately after the 9th International Symposium on Online Journalism that was supported by the Knight Chair in Journalism and by the UNESCO Chair in Communication at the University of Texas at Austin.
Here are several videos and PowerPoint presentations by journalism scholars and editors of some of the most important publications in Latin America, Spain and Portugal. Unlike the symposium, which is conducted in English, the colloquium was predominantly in Spanish and dealt with specific issues and concerns of journalists and scholars who deal with digital journalism in Spanish and Portuguese.
We hope this first colloquium is the beginning of a new dialogue between journalists of the Americas and the Iberian Peninsula interested in the evolution of digital journalism. We are planning for the second colloquium here in Austin for April 18-19, 2009, which will once again follow the long-established symposium of online journalism (which should occur between April 17th and 18th).
There is no need to wait until the next meeting in Austin to continue the dialogue initiated here. Our idea is to create initiatives to stimulate dialogue in Spanish and Portuguese, among journalists, scholars of Latin America, Spain and Portugal interested in digital journalism. Look forward to it! Meanwhile you can already enjoy the content of this page.
