María Teresa Ronderos

Ronderos was the first female editor in the 100-year history of El Tiempo newspaper, where she won a King of Spain journalism prize in 1997 for her reporting on media coverage of the connections between drug money and presidential politics in Colombia. She later directed a morning news program covering topics like armed conflicts, the environment, and fraud. While there, she won a Knight Fellowship to study at Stanford University. After her year at Stanford, she returned to Colombia and consulted for various media outlets and edited an economic newspaper, La Nota. Ronderos is the former managing editor of Semana, Colombia's most widely-read news magazine. Since Feburary of 2008, she has directed Semana's online version. For eight years she was president of FLIP and currently serves on its board of directors. |


María Teresa Ronderos is a renowned Colombian journalist, with a specialty in political science. She is editor of Semana.com and a former president of the Foundation for Press Freedom (FLIP).
