UPDATE: Registration now closed for ISOJ 2016, the global conference on online journalism

Online journalism enthusiasts can now register for the 17th International Symposium on Online Journalism (ISOJ), which brings together hundreds of editors, reporters and academics from around the world for a two-day discussion about current trends, issues and innovation in the field.

The symposium takes place from April 15 to 16, 2016 at the University of Texas at Austin’s Blanton Museum of Art at 200 E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Austin, Texas.

General registration is $120.00, but there are discounted fees for faculty ($60) and students ($40). The fee includes breakfast and lunch on both days and access to all sessions.

The program, including speakers, will be announced soon.

ISOJ is an annual conference organized by the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas, with major support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and others sponsors, such as The Dallas Morning News and Univision News.

This unique global conference brings together top journalists, media executives, researchers and academics from around the country and the world to discuss the latest trends, issues and innovations in online journalism. Attendees from approximately 40 countries participated in ISOJ last year.

Keynote speakers and panelists look at changing business models and news formats, audience development and engagement, new reporting tools, ethics in the digital age, the mobile revolution and more.

The official research journal of the symposium, #ISOJ, is launched during the event, eliminating the usual gap between research presentation in conferences and publication. In addition to a limited print edition, the journal is offered online and has a special multimedia edition, where authors can add video, interactive graphics and other multimedia elements. Articles in the journal are peer-reviewed by a blind review panel of researchers from prestigious international universities.

For information about past ISOJ symposiums, please visit the various sections of the symposium website, where you can find video and transcripts of all sessions of ISOJ since 1999, as well as research papers, PowerPoint presentations and other materials.
