Brazilian police reconstruct killing of journalist Décio Sá

The suspect that confessed to killing Brazilian journalist Décio Sá in April, Jhonathan Silva, narrated the details of the crime during its reconstruction organized by the Public Safety Secretariat of Maranhão on Tuesday, June 3, reported G1. More than 50 police officers and six experts followed the process, which started during the afternoon and lasted until the evening in São Luís.

According to the civil police, the reconstruction of the crime could have been dismissed, but the delegates considered it important to add further evidence and eliminate any questions of the crime, reported the Jornal Pequeno On-line.

The political journalist, Décio Sá, was shot six times and killed at a bar in São Luís in April. Aside from working as a reporter for the newspaper Folha do Maranhão, Sá also was the author of the two most visited blogs in the region. During the investigations, the police discovered that his reports about usury crimes published on his blog were the motive behind his killing.

Silva, the confessed shooter, said during the reconstruction that he killed the journalist in less than five seconds, reported the news portal Terra. Politicians of the region, including a public official, also are accused of being involved in the crime.
