Brazilian TV news crew attacked

A Brazilian TV Difusora news crew was attacked on the night of Saturday, Aug. 18, while covering the inauguration of a public square in the city of Bacabal, in Maranhão, according to the news site Imirante.

According to a complaint made by the channel's journalism director, Janaína Soares, on radio station Mirante AM's program, the secretary of city projects was responsible for the attack. "People are experiencing true terrorism in Bacabal," said Soares. She also said that the camera used for the report was damaged by the public official, according to the news site Correio Codoense.

James Borges, another director of the channel, said that he received a death threat. "Unfortunately, we were being massacred last night," said Borges, on the Noca website.
