Virtual seats are still available for the Knight Center’s upcoming course in Spanish, “Data Visualization and Infographics with D3,” which starts on Jan. 18. Register now.

This is the first time this course will be offered in Spanish. More than 1,000 people interested in data-visualization took this course in English last year when it was taught by Alberto Cairo and Scott Murray. Read more »


Alberto Cairo joins Univision as visualization innovator-in-residence

 

Alberto Cairo, world-renowned infographics expert, is joining Univision Digital as the U.S. media company’s first visualization innovator-in-residence. He will keep his position as Knight Chair in Visual Journalism at the University of Miami School of Communication and will continue his long-time contributions to the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas, where he has taught online courses for thousands of journalists from around the world. Online course on data visualization and infographics with D3 now in Spanish; enrollment is open

"Data Visualization and Infographics with D3", one of the most popular online courses in English offered this year by the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas, will be offered in Spanish starting January 18, 2016.

Both times that this course was offered in English in 2015, spaces filled up quickly. The Knight Center now offers this course in Spanish after receiving repeated requests. Be sure to register as soon as possible to ensure your participation. Read more »


Knight Center’s innovative MOOC program offers 7 courses, reaches 27,000 students in its first year

It’s been a little over a year since the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas launched its innovative Massive Open Online Course (or MOOC) initiative and, in that time, the program has offered a total of seven massive courses and reached 27,674 people in more than 150 countries. The Knight Center's MOOC website was visited, during this period, 349,273 times and delivered 3,055,506 pages. Read more »

Knight Center concludes MOOC on infographics with 5,000 participants, its largest class to date

The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas concluded this week its largest class to date: The second edition of its first Massive Open Online Course (or MOOC), “Introduction to Infographics and Data Visualization” with instructor Alberto Cairo. The MOOC attracted more than 5,000 participants from 138 countries in its second iteration (the first edition of the course reached out 2,000 people from 109 countries last year). Read more »

Registration for the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas’ second Massive Online Open Course (or MOOC) has closed after reaching its 5,000-participant cap on Dec. 31. The six-week course in English will start on Jan. 12 and end on Feb. 23.   Read more »
