Increased internet access and insecurity for journalists among media trends in Latin America, according to UNESCO

The inhabitants of Latin America and the Caribbean have seen an increase in access to content on digital platforms in the last six years, according to the report "World trends in freedom of expression and media development: regional overview of Latin America and the Caribbean 2017/2018.”

Fiber optic cable in Cuba shows signs of activity but no improvement in Internet access, says Yoani Sánchez

Despite the first signs of activity from a massive fiber optic cable connecting Cuba and Venezuela three weeks ago, there appears to be little improvement in Internet access on the island, according to a report from Cuban blogger Yoani Sánchez on the Committee to Protect Journalists' website.  Read more »
