Knight Center launches a massive online course in Portuguese on mobile journalism

Smartphones have become indispensable and have transformed various aspects of our daily lives, including the way that we consume news and how it is produced. To help those interested in learning about the latest in mobile media and how journalism can be done via smartphone, the Brazilian National Association of Newspapers (ANJ) and the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas, supported by Google, will offer the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) titled “Introduction to Mobile Journalism.”

Students of Knight Center's first MOOC point to growing interest in infographics around the world

Knight Center’s first massive journalism course reaches 2,000 students in 109 countries

The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas’ first MOOC (massive open online course) started on Sunday, Oct. 28, reaching more than 2,000 people from 109 countries. The demand for the course was so high that registration for the massive class had to be limited due to concerns about server capacity. More than 1,000 people are already registered, lining up for a second edition of the same course that will start in January. Read more »

The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas is launching its first “massive open online course” or MOOC, a new kind of e-learning program designed for a large number of students – it is free and accessible to anyone from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection. The first Knight Center MOOC will be Introduction to Infographics and Data Visualization, taught in English by Alberto Cairo, an internationally renowned expert who teaches at the University of Miami.
