In six years, 164,000 people from 200 countries participated in Knight Center's online courses in journalism

The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas is celebrating the 6th anniversary of its program of massive online courses in journalism that has an unparalleled reach around the world. Since 2012, 164,540 students from 200 countries and territories participated in our 60 courses offered in two modalities: 51 were Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and nine were Big Online Courses (BOCs). Each MOOC reaches a few thousand students and is free and each BOC reaches a few hundred and has a low cost. Read more »


Knight Center’s Distance Learning program offers 120 online courses in ten years

Two online learning programs offered by the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas concluded successfully last week. Journalists from 18 countries in Latin America learned how to use digital tools to improve their work in a course in Spanish, and 44 Brazilian reporters and editors participated in a course in Portuguese on data journalism. Course for journalists sought to improve impartial presidential election coverage in Venezuela

Before the elections on Sunday, Oct. 7, granted Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez six more years in office, dozens of journalists participated in an online course and in-person workshop on election coverage offered by the Carter Center's Program to Strengthen Journalism in Venezuela and the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas.
