Knight Center year in review: In 2018, we reached 40,000 students through our online courses, covered journalism in LA and more

As we look back on 2018, we’re reminded of how many journalists are seeking opportunities to acquire new skills, share best practices, and network with colleagues online and in person.

These opportunities are at the heart of what we do at the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas, and they align with our goal of helping journalists from around the world who want to improve the quality of journalism in their countries. As we start 2018, we wanted to take a look back at some of the most important, as well as widely read, shared and liked stories on the Knight Center’s Journalism in the Americas blog.

These stories looked at entrepreneurial successes, business strategies for sustainability, creative storytelling formats, digital security, development of new reporting tools and more. In 2017, journalists in Latin America grappled with a growing crisis of freedom of expression. Many risked their lives to tell important stories that may have otherwise gone untold, while others faced threats against themselves and their families. Read more »
