Hispanic journalists group says poor coverage of Latinos contributes to anti-immigration sentiment

The National Association of Hispanic journalists is in part blaming anti-immigration laws like that in Arizona on the lack of Latino voices in the media, according to El Nuevo Herald.

At the association's annual convention in Denver, journalists discussed how to cover Latinos more in-depth and truthfully in order to "calm the hate."

The association's executive director, Iván Román, also suggested that not only is it important for more Hispanics to get involved in the media, but for them to take a position, as well.
