Peruvian judiciary decides in favor of journalist dismissed for refusing to read advertisements

The Peruvian Judiciary decided in favor of Perla Berríos in a lawsuit over harassment suffered by the journalist while working at the network Latina, magazine Caretas reported on Aug. 17.

According to the journalist, she was dismissed for refusing to read advertisements between news items, which also led to a period of harassment at work that was recognized by the Peruvian courts. Read more »


Prosecutor accuses former Peruvian Minister of the Interior of being co-author of murder of journalist in 1988

Daniel Urresti, former general and former Minister of the Interior during the government of Peruvian President Ollanta Humala, was accused by prosecutor Luis Landa of being the co-author of the 1988 murder of journalist Hugo Bustíos. The prosecutor made this declaration during the current trial against Urresti and asked for 25 years in prison for the former general, newspaper La República reported. Read more »

Peruvian journalist who disappeared at the end of February found murdered and dismembered

Peruvian journalist and audiovisual producer José Yactayo, who disappeared on Feb. 25, was killed and dismembered, the Peruvian National Police said on March 2 after confirming the identity of human remains found in a rural area on the outskirts of Lima.
