Mark your calendars for ISOJ 2025: Knight Center announces dates for the 26th International Symposium on Online Journalism

The 26th International Symposium on Online Journalism (ISOJ) will take place on Thursday, March 27, and Friday, March 28, 2025, online and on the University of Texas at Austin campus.

After receiving feedback from ISOJ participants, we have decided to move ISOJ to take place during the work week to better accommodate work and travel schedules.

“ISOJ is perfectly aligned with spring in Texas, a time when bluebonnets sprout in our parks and along our highways to signal exciting changes on the horizon. We’re already hard at work making sure next year’s ISOJ will match that same energy and be a space for inspiring conversations about the future of journalism,” said ISOJ founder and director Professor Rosental C. Alves.

The Knight Center team will make more exciting announcements regarding ISOJ 2025 in the coming weeks, so keep an eye on social media and isoj.org for more information.

“Stay tuned! We have some surprises and great improvements to our conference,” Alves said.

ISOJ, founded in 1999, is a program of the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas at the School of Journalism and Media in the Moody College of Communication. It has grown throughout the years to become a unique international conference that serves as a barometer for the state of online journalism globally.

Nearly 1,000 people – 412 in Austin and 567 online – from 74 countries attended the 25th ISOJ, which took place April 12 – 13, 2024. The conference, which was held in English with simultaneous interpretation to Spanish, featured 79 speakers from 20 countries. Video recordings of all sessions are available in English and Spanishon isoj.org and the ISOJ YouTube page.

“ISOJ uniquely joins the journalism industry and academia to predict the future of the profession during increasingly uncertain times,” Alves said. “It is our hope that you’ll join us for important discussions about what we’ve learned and where we’re headed, together.”

So mark your calendars for March 27 and 28, 2025, and plan to join us in Austin, Texas, for this special conference.
