Knight Center offers exclusive series of four webinars on how to use Google Sheets for journalism

As a journalist, you know that every piece of data has the potential to tell an important story, but handling large volumes of data can be challenging. Can you imagine turning that complex data into clear and interesting narratives? This is your chance to learn how!

"Google Sheets para Periodistas" (Google Sheets for Journalists) is a new exclusive series of four webinars in Spanish offered by the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas, taking place Aug. 1, 8, 15 and 22, 2024.

This webinar series is a new initiative from the Knight Center to train journalists around the world. You can sign up for an individual webinar or all four, without needing to follow a specific order. You have the flexibility to participate live or watch the recordings at a time that best suits your schedule. This series is designed to adapt to your needs.

You can opt for the full package of four webinars for $50 USD or an individual webinar for $20 USD. Also, if you have difficulties paying, you can apply for a scholarship.

Sandra Crucianelli, coordinator of the data unit at Infobae, and Daniela Czibener, data and information specialist at Infobae, will teach you how to use Google Sheets effectively. Both experts in data journalism will share their techniques and knowledge to help you manage, visualize and analyze data. Register now!

During the webinars, participants will receive an introduction to using spreadsheets, explore the use of common mathematical formulas in journalism, learn how to clean data, and be introduced to advanced analysis using graphs and pivot tables

This series is designed so that you can interact live with the instructors or watch it at your own time when it suits you, thanks to the recordings that will be available to all registered participants.

You will have access to additional materials provided by the instructors, such as guides on the topics of each webinar, articles and examples. You will also have access to interactive forums where you can connect and share experiences with other journalists.

Those who attend the four webinars will receive a digital badge, a certificate of completion and a workbook with the detailed content of the four weeks, prepared by the instructors.
