Disinformation is becoming increasingly difficult to identify. Deepfakes, manipulated audio, and AI-generated images are just some of the forms that deception can take in the digital age. Knowing how to recognize what is reliable has never been more important, especially given the impact that disinformation has on elections, public health, and people's everyday lives.
To mark International Fact-Checking Day on April 2, 2026, the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas and Agência Lupa invite you to the free webinar in Portuguese, "The Lie Has Never Been So Convincing," featuring journalists Cristina Tardáguila and Raphael Kapa.
Tardáguila is the founder of Agência Lupa, the first Brazilian organization specializing in fact-checking, with extensive experience in news verification and media literacy. Kapa focuses on journalism and media training, bringing hands-on experience in the fight against disinformation and in analyzing digital content.
In this live session, you will discover how fact-checking professionals tackle the challenges of disinformation in the age of AI, learn about the strategies used to verify content, and understand how technology is transforming the way misinformation spreads.
You will be able to take part in the conversation and send your questions to the experts. And at the end, you will receive a certificate of participation and access to the recording.
The webinar will take place on Wednesday, April 2, 2026, at 10 AM (Central Time) and will last one hour, including a Q&A session.
The webinar will also serve as a gateway to the free online course "Combating Disinformation in the Age of AI," which takes a deeper look at practical tools and techniques for identifying and analyzing manipulated content.
